Tasteful Table Catering is a full-service catering company specializing in weddings and special events. We are seeking a motivated Assistant Chef (Sous Chef level) to support our Executive Chef in delivering consistently high-quality food and memorable guest experiences.

Position Summary

The Assistant Chef supports the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, event execution, and post-event breakdown. This role plays a key part in maintaining food quality, presentation standards, and strict food safety compliance while working collaboratively with the kitchen and event teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef with food preparation, cooking, and event execution

  • Support inventory management, including receiving, organizing, and tracking food and supplies

  • Maintain consistent food quality, portion control, and presentation standards

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations

  • Assist with ordering, inventory control, and minimizing food waste

  • Enforce proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature controls

  • Maintain required food safety and sanitation logs

  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house and event staff to ensure smooth service timing

  • Assist with kitchen breakdown and clean-up following events

Qualifications

  • Basic cooking experience with a strong desire to learn and grow

  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standardized procedures

  • Solid understanding of kitchen equipment and knife safety practices

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds

  • Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends

  • Reliable, punctual, and seeking a long-term position

Schedule & Compensation

  • Pay: $21.50 per hour

  • Schedule: Wednesday–Sunday

  • Hours: Vary based on events and seasonality
